    Article Submission Guidelines

The article submission guidelines for the Magazine are detailed below.

Articles should be, at a minimum, approximately 1,000 to 1,750 words or so in length; longer articles, including much longer articles, are welcomed, as well as shorter pieces.

We accept articles that have not been previously published as well as previously published articles with proper attribution. Authors and columnists may reproduce their articles and place them on their websites and social media channels, with attribution provided to Mediation Magazine after first publication by Mediation Magazine.

Any mediation topic may be appropriate for an article for the Mediation Magazine, and any perspective on a topic may work. Before completing and submitting a complete article, we recommend authors submit an article abstract that outlines ideas for the article

An article may discuss a mediation or matter in which the author has been involved provided that the author does not disclose confidential or identifiable information about the matter, clearly discloses the involvement to the Managing Editor, and includes a reference to that involvement in the author’s bio.

Before beginning to write, authors are encouraged to run their idea by the Managing Editor. This helps us avoid publishing multiple pieces on the same topic—unless each offers a clearly distinct perspective.

All articles must be submitted via email in Word, as an attachment. All charts, graphs, and tables should be properly prepared for web publication and must be submitted via email.

Footnotes and endnotes should generally be avoided or minimized and used only when absolutely necessary. If required, endnotes are preferred over footnotes.

Articles should include a clearly written short author biography, headshot photo, and email address. Authors should provide a two or three sentence summary of their article. All photos- headshots and others- must be high resolution or will not be accepted.

Articles should be written in a neutral, third-person voice. “You,” “I,” “We,” and similar terms are discouraged.

The first reference to any person or persons should include full names. Authors are responsible for verifying correct spelling and titles. First references to entities should include the entity’s full title, followed by the acronym (if any) that will be used throughout the rest of the article, in parentheses.
